🛡️ The Membrane Attack Complex — The Hole-Punchers of Bodyland
Scroll of the Final Blow in the Complement War
🌿 Prologue
In the Kingdom of Bodyland, when germs try to sneak in, brave warriors gather. These warriors come from the Complement Guard — they are called C5b, C6, C7, C8, and C9.
Together, they form the MAC, which means Membrane Attack Complex. But Bodyland kids call them “The Hole-Punchers.”
🌀 What Do the Hole-Punchers Do?
When the scout C5b finds a bad germ, it waves a flag. Then:
- 🔗 C6 comes and grabs onto C5b — like best friends linking arms.
- 🌊 C7 shows up next and sticks them to the germ’s coat.
- 🪛 C8 arrives and pokes the first tiny hole.
- 🔩 C9 brings all its friends — they hold hands and make a full circle…
- 💥 Then — POP! A big hole opens in the germ!
💧 What Happens to the Germ?
The hole lets water rush inside the germ — and the germ can’t handle it! It gets too full and bursts like a balloon. The germ is gone! 🎉
🧠 Bodyland Wisdom
- 🛡️ The MAC is the final weapon of the complement army.
- 🚪 It punches holes in enemy walls to destroy them.
- 🦠 Works best on certain bacteria (like ones with thin coats — Gram-negative).
- ⚠️ Sometimes, Bodyland kids are born missing C6 or C9 — they get sick more often from sneaky bacteria.
📚 From the Scrollkeeper
If C3b is the tagger and C5b is the caller, then MAC is the finisher. Bodyland’s clean-up crew doesn’t end the fight until the hole-punchers arrive.
“They don’t use swords, or fire, or spells…
Just a big hole, and the germ swells.”
